My name is Armando Rubio. I was born in Compton, CA, then lived in Lynwood and Moreno Valley (both in California), spent a year in Monteon, Nayarit, Mexico, before finally arriving in Walla Walla, WA in 2010. I’ve been here ever since and all I can say is that I really enjoy living here. More than all the seasons you get to experience and having the Blue Mountains in our backyard, it is the people of this town that make it a wonderful place to live and work. I have been at Walla Walla Public Schools for four years, first as a Special Needs Bus Assistant, then a Para Educator, and now I’m excited to be serving our children and community as Pioneer’s afterschool program Site Coordinator. I believe students experience a dramatic shift when they arrive to middle school and I’m glad to be a part of making that change less stressful and confusing. I do this by providing quality activities through free afterschool programs, places where students can find belonging.
